MAR10 DAY Branding

March 10th, aka MAR10 Day is a holiday that evolved organically on social media for Nintendo’s most beloved character, Mario.

APPROACH
With MAR10 Day 2019 falling on a Sunday, which is typically slower for news and social media, a program was designed to extend MAR10 Day into a week long celebration that focused on a hardware and software promotion. In order to use the full power of the Nintendo brand and create cohesion among all consumer touch points, I worked with our internal design team to create a style guide that had sample layouts/designs. The goal was to create a unified brand experience that all teams (including our retail partners) could leverage so that Mario was front and center of all activations. We also created consistent messaging so when we talked about MAR10 Day to our fans, Nintendo had one shared voice.

RESULTS

  • #MAR10Day was the top trending topic of social media on March 10, 2019

  • Social media posts generated 3.7M impressions

  • Hardware sales met the goal for MAR10 Week

  • Software sales exceeded goal by 7x
